Under Carriage

The term under carriage is given to the landing gear of the aircraft. This is actaully the wheels on which the aircraft moves when on ground. Most jet fighters have a tri-carriage system, which actually is two rear wheel points (since one point could have one or two or more wheels!). The Harrier has a four point carriage, since it has two wheel at its nose and rear, while two are on the wings each! Transport aircraft may have many such points!(
