The canards are essentially a design that was incorporated into many new jets. The speciality of these little wings are that they make the aircraft much more manueverable than it would hav, had it been behind. The canards, by being in the front force the nose of the aircraft to trun sharper than it would have had it been behind the main wings. While the usual practice is to remove the tail plane from the rear and have canards in front. However, in certain Russian fighter and aircrafts, the canards and trail planes exist along side!
