F-117 Nighthawk [American]
The F-117 Nighthawk was initially meant as a stealth fighter. However, despite its designation as a fighter (the letter 'F'), experts believed that the Nighthawk would not survive a dogfight due to its air design. Hence, the plane was assigned to ground-attack duties. But the success of this aircraft became emminent in the Gulf War between the allied forces (under the US) and Iraq. The Nighthawk, thanks to its stealth technologies, flew daring missions into Iraq and bombed the very heart of Iraq - Baghdad, at night! All that Saddam Hussein's forces could do was to fire blindly into the sky at something they could not see even on the best of their radar screens, hoping they would be lucky to down one. Unfortunately, for them, it just wasn't their luck.
