F-4 Phantom [American]
In 1963, McDonnell Douglas produced what was the most outstanding multi-role combat aircraft yet produced, the F-4 Phantom. Big and heavy, the two-seater Phantom was designed for any role and to operate from carrier and land. It reliability made it a winner of the US Navy, Marines and Air Force, and the air forces of 11 other nations. Thanks to the 'Top Gun' Red Flag programme (1969), these birds achieved a kill ratio of 8:1 in Vietnam!
