Kfir-C2 [Israel]
In 1967, when the Arab-Israeli War broke out, the French, under pressure and threat of stopping oil supplies, refused to give military assistance to the Israelis. This resulted in the Israeli Military Command asking the Israeli Aircraft Industries to be self-sufficient and develop an alternative to the Mirage (3 and 5) series of planes. The result was the Kfir aircraft. This plane, which in Hebrew means 'Lion Cub', was similar in design to the Mirage series of planes, but had a pair of canards also.
